People who may want to start managing their cholesterol levels may have to find out what may be considered as the good cholesterol level. You may have to remember that determining good cholesterol level may usually mean knowing the right amount for LDL cholesterol. Finding out what the right numbers are in terms of good cholesterol level for both the bad cholesterol (LDL) may be absolutely vital to being healthy.
Some people may not be aware, but there is really a need to have a good cholesterol level. Having a high LDL cholesterol level, also known as the bad cholesterol is something negative. Having a high HDL cholesterol level, on the other hand, or good cholesterol is a positive thing. However, good cholesterol level may actually depend on factors such as your overall health, your family’s medical history, etc.

LDL cholesterol, (bad cholesterol) may have to be kept at the minimum because high LDL cholesterol levels may produce heart attacks due to artery blockage. HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol) is the type of cholesterol that is recommended to be kept at a high level because it may actually help in unclogging arteries.
An LDL level of 130 mg/dL may be the good cholesterol level that most people may be required to aim for. People who have developed other risk factors for cardiovascular disease, however, may be instructed by the doctor to maintain good cholesterol level by having an LDL level of less than 100mg/dL. For those with very high risk factors, a good cholesterol level may actually be less than 70mg/dL. Risk factors for having heart disease include: having diabetes, experiencing a heart attack, smoking, being above the age of 45 for men, and being older than 55 years of age for women, etc.
People who have not been able to maintain good cholesterol level, specifically those who have high LDL cholesterol levels, may have to undergo major lifestyle changes. Eating foods that consist of more soluble fiber such as beans, vegetables, etc. may be recommended. Wanting to have good cholesterol level may also require the intake of more unsaturated fat as well as reducing your body weight if you're overweight.
Having good cholesterol level requires the will and determination, among other things. Though maintaining good cholesterol level may be hard, all your efforts will definitely be worth it.
